On February 29, 2024, Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria H.E. Cui Jianchun and Nigerian President H. E. Chief Bola Ahmed Adekunle Tinubu GCFR attended the commissioning ceremony of the first phase of Lagos Rail Mass Transit Red Line in Lagos and witnessed the signing of the agreement for the second phase. About 500 people attended the ceremony, including Lagos State Governor H.E. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Consul General Yan Yuqing in Lagos, and Chairman Liu Weimin of CCECC, the project contractor.
